Retaining walls are built to support masses of earth, like those found at the edge of a terrace or excavation. They are built to withstand the lateral pressure exerted by soil when there is a change in ground elevation. Should your retaining wall show signs of deterioration, such as sinking, settling, or cracking, repair or replacement may be required. Obtaining a Building Permit is a required step before constructing a new retaining wall, or repairing or replacing one. In certain cases, Design Review may also be required.
