The Mayor's Commission on Persons with Disabilities (MCPD) represents and addresses the concerns of the disability community. Established by City ordinance in 1980, the MCPD is an appointed group of volunteers who are committed to integrating people with disabilities into all aspects of the community. A majority of the commission is composed of persons with disabilities. Since 1990, the MCPD has acted as the City's designated advisory body for ADA compliance. Responsibilities include:
