Plan Check Engineers can help with:

  • Notes or comments from a Plan Check Engineer on approved documents.
  • Questions or feedback from a Plan Check Engineer during plan review.
  • Proposed changes to documents that were approved by a Plan Check Engineer.
  • Correction notices from City of Oakland inspectors related to approved plans. When possible, the inspector and Plan Check Engineer should attend the meeting together.

Plan Check Office Hours

Before scheduling a meeting, consider emailing your project Plan Check Engineer.

Plan Check Engineers may also offer virtual office hours through Microsoft Teams.

Plan Check Directory

To contact a Plan Check Engineer: 

  1. Find the engineer's contact information in the City of Oakland's Building & Infrastructure Plan Check Engineers Directory.
  2. Contact the engineer to schedule a meeting or asks questions.

To find the Plan Check Engineer assigned to your permit:

  1. Visit the Online Permit Center.
  2. Search your permit number.
  3. Check "Processing Status" to find the engineer listed under "Plan Check Review."

When contacting a Plan Check Engineer, include:

  • Property address
  • Building permit number
  • Your question and any related code information (if available).

When scheduling an appointment, include:

  • Preferred appointment date
  • Job address
  • Permit number(s)
  • Reason for the appointment
