Non-Emergency Crime
If you are not in immediate danger, call the Non-Emergency Police Number (510) 777-3333.
You can report a non-emergency crime to the Police Department in person, over the phone or online.
Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Crimes that Can be Reported Online
- Annoying phone calls
- Attempted auto theft
- Bad/fraudulent checks
- Catalytic Converter Theft
- Commercial or Residential burglary
- Defrauding an inn-keeper
- Forgery
- Fraudulent use of credit card
- Hit and run
- Identity theft
- Illegal dumping
- Lost or stolen property (excluding motor vehicles, firearms, and license plates)
- Price gouging during a natural disaster
- Theft of dog
- Theft of mail
- Vandalism or graffiti
- Vehicle burglary (property stolen from a motor vehicle)
- Vehicle tampering
To report a crime online, you must confirm that:
- The crime is not an emergency
- You are at least 18 years old
- You have a working email address
- The crime occurred within Oakland city limits
- The crime did not happen on a freeway or highway
Report an Issue (OAK 311)
Please report active infrastructure emergencies to OAK311 by dialing 311 or (510) 615-5566. Emergencies include downed trees or tree limbs, flooding or sewer overflows, and street signal outages. Please report all non-emergency issues online at this page.
