The Oakland Electric Bike Lending Pilot Program will make electric bikes available for low-cost rental to Oaklanders.

About

Electric bikes are a transformative technology that can greatly increase the range and accessibility of bicycles while helping reduce dependence on car ownership. The Oakland Electric Bike Lending Program will provide Oaklanders with access to affordable four week rentals of e-bikes, locks and helmets.

This five-year project is funded by a $1,500,000.00 grant from the Clean Mobility Options (CMO) Voucher Program. The project will be operated by Bikehub out of their Fruitvale location at 3301 E 12th Street Suite 141.

CMO is part of California Climate Investments (CCI), a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities.

In Fall 2022, community engagement to inform eventual program design was completed. For an in-depth report on community engagement strategy and findings, see our Community Engagement Report(PDF, 3MB).
