Alameda County-Oakland Community Action Partnership (AC-OCAP) The Alameda County-Oakland Community Action Partnership Administrating Board aims to improve our community by creating pathways that lead to economic empowerment and prosperity.
Appointed Rent Board The Housing, Residential Rent and Relocation Board enforces the Rent Adjustment Ordinance that is set out by the Oakland City Council and fosters fair housing for a diverse population of renters.
Bicyclist and Pedestrian Advisory Commission Oakland's Bicyclist & Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) advises the City Council on programs and projects related to walking and bicycling. BPAC meetings are on the third Thursday of the month from 6-8 and open to the public.
Budget Advisory Commission The Budget Advisory Commission (BAC) advises the City Council on expenditures, revenues, and financial policies. The BAC’s advice generally takes the form of informational reports submitted to the Finance & Management Committee of the City Council. The BAC generally meets on the second Wednesday of the month.
Business Tax Board of Review The Business Tax Board of Review reviews taxpayers appeals on assessments under the business license tax laws.
Cannabis Regulatory Commission The CRC makes recommendations to the City Council regarding the licensure, taxation, and regulations of cannabis for adult use and oversees the implementation of the private Adult Cannabis Offenses Policy.
Children's Initiative Oversight Commission The Oakland Children’s Initiative (Measure AA) is a 2018 Charter Amendment passed by the voters of Oakland to deepen our early investment in children and support them to and through college graduation.
Civil Service Board The Civil Service Board is responsible for enforcing the Civil Service Rules, approving the exemption of classifications from the competitive process, and approving classification specifications, including the creation of new classifications and revisions to existing ones. The Board also serves as an appellate body for employees who wish to challenge employment-related decisions.
Commission on Homelessness The Commission on Homelessness provides oversight of the Oakland vacant property tax received by the City of Oakland for homeless services and makes recommendations to the City Council for strategies to remedy homelessness.
Community Policing Advisory Board The CPAB supports block, neighborhood and community empowerment, civic engagement and public safety by encouraging and supporting connection, collaboration and problem solving between neighbors and among residents throughout Oakland.
Community Workforce Agreement (CWA) Task Force The CWA Task Force has been assembled to address social and racial equity provisions in the development of a Community Workforce Agreement.
Cultural Affairs Commission The Cultural Affairs Commission is an advisory body to the Mayor, City Council, and City Administrator on matters affecting cultural development in Oakland.
Emergency Management and Disaster Preparedness Council (EMADPC) Pursuant to Article 10 of the California Emergency Services Act, local governments may establish a disaster council by ordinance to develop plans for meeting any condition constituting a local emergency or state of emergency.
Head Start Advisory Board The Advisory Board provides oversight of quality services for Head Start children and families and for making decisions related to program design and implementation. These decisions and recommendations are shared with the City Council annually or as requested.
Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board (LPAB) The Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board identifies historic landmarks in Oakland, conducts design review hearings on historic properties, and advises the Planning Commission and City Council on preservation.
Library Commission The Library Commission makes recommendations to the Oakland City Council; provides citizen oversight of Measure C and Measure D tax funds; and advocates on behalf of Library programs and services.
MACRO Community Advisory Board MACRO Community Advisory Board consists of community members who have vested interest in the success of Oaklanders and the MACRO program.
Mayor's Commission on Aging (MCOA) The Mayor’s Commission on Aging was established in 1980 to advise the Mayor and the City Council about issues affecting Oakland seniors.
Mayor's Commission on Persons with Disabilities (MCPD) The Mayor’s Commission on Persons with Disabilities (MCPD) represents and addresses the concerns of the disability community.
Oakland - Alameda Coliseum JPA Commission The Oakland - Alameda County Coliseum Authority is a joint powers agency established by the City of Oakland and the County of Alameda to finance improvements to the Coliseum Complex and to manage the Coliseum Complex on behalf of the City and the County.
Oakland Army Base Jobs Oversight Commission The Community Jobs Oversight Commission ensures compliance with workforce training, local hire compliance, and job quality on the Oakland Army Base.
Oakland Housing Authority The Oakland Housing Authority was established to receive federal funds to provide housing for low-income residents of the City of Oakland, California.
Oakland Police & Fire Retirement System Board (PFRS) The Oakland Police and Fire Retirement System is dedicated to protection and prudent investing of the pension funds for the benefit of the PFRS retirees and beneficiaries. PFRS strives to give the beneficiaries of this retirement system friendly and courteous service.
Oakland Public Safety Planning and Oversight Commission On November 5, 2024, voters approved Measure NN, the Oakland Community and Emergency Response Act, which is a parcel tax that will remain in effect for nine years. Measure NN requires the establishment of the Oakland Public Safety Planning and Oversight Commission.
Oakland ROCKS The Oakland ROCKS Committee, the employee-driven appreciation committee, plans employee appreciation and recognition events throughout the year.
Oakland Youth Commission The Oakland Youth Commission (OYC) empowers youth to enter the public arena and tackle important issues related to youth. Formed in 1985, OYC develops young leaders in Oakland to engage with city affairs and advise City Council and the Mayor on youth priorities. We currently have 19 youth commissioners between the ages of 13-21 representing all 7 districts in Oakland.
Paramount Theater of the Arts Board The Paramount Theatre of the Arts is a non-profit corporation organized for the purpose of operating and maintaining the Paramount Theatre for the benefit of the City of Oakland.
Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission (PRAC) This Commission is responsible for advising the Mayor, Council, City Administrator, and the Oakland Parks, Recreation and Youth Development Department on all matters relating to the general policy and operation of the parks and recreation system.
Planning Commission The Planning Commission promotes the orderly growth and development of the City through studies, decisions on development proposals, policy recommendations to the City Council, and related activities.
Planning and Oversight Committee - Oakland Fund for Youth and Children The Planning and Oversight Committee (POC) is the public body that oversees the Oakland Fund for Children and Youth (OFCY).
Police Commission The purpose of the Oakland Police Commission is to oversee the Oakland Police Department to ensure its policies, practices, and customs conform to national standards of constitutional policing.
Port of Oakland Board of Commissioners The City of Oakland Charter gives the Board of Port Commissioners exclusive control and management of the Port of Oakland. The Port Board consists of seven members nominated by the Mayor and appointed by the City Council.
Privacy Advisory Commission The Privacy Advisory Commission provides advice to the City of Oakland on best practices to protect Oaklanders' privacy rights in connection with the City's purchase and use of surveillance equipment and other technology that collects or stores our data.
Public Art Advisory Committee The Public Art Advisory Committee works with staff to develop program policies and procedures and approves sites, budgets, selection methods, and proposals for public art in Oakland.
Public Ethics Commission The Public Ethics Commission is an independent commission made up of Oakland residents and charged with ensuring fairness, openness, honesty and integrity in Oakland City government.
Public Safety and Services Violence Prevention Oversight Commission The Public Safety and Services Oversight Commission oversees the proper administration of the revenue collection and spending, and the implementation of the programs funded through Measure Z: The 2014 Oakland Public Safety and Services Violence Prevention Act revenue. Members are appointed by the Mayor and City Councilmembers.
Redevelopment Successor Agency Oversight Board The Redevelopment Successor Agency and its Oversight Board was created to wind down and complete the activities of the former Oakland Redevelopment Agency following dissolution in 2012.
Redistricting Commission The Oakland Redistricting Commission sets new district boundaries every ten years for the City Council and School Board, in accordance with the US Census.
Sugar-Sweetened Commission The Sugar Sweetened Beverage (SSB) Community Advisory Board advises the City Council and makes recommendations on how and to what extent the Council should establish and/or fund programs to prevent or reduce the health consequences of the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages in Oakland communities.
