Inflation Reduction Act *NEW*- Passed in August 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act allocates nearly $9 billion for building electrification nationwide through rebates and tax credits.

Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN)- Funded through utility ratepayer funds collected by PG&E, the San Francisco Bay Area Regional Energy Network provides numerous electrification resources, including Home Energy Advisor, a service to connect property owners with available rebates and qualified contractors; the Bay Area Multifamily Building Enhancements (BAMBE) program, which provides a $750/unit rebate for qualifying energy efficiency projects and more for electrification, with preference to buildings in frontline communities; contractor training; a menu of rebates for individual electrification upgrades; small business resources; and more.

East Bay Community Energy (EBCE)- Oakland’s default electricity provider, EBCE is a public electric utility dedicated to reduced rates and local, clean energy generation. EBCE provides rebates to support holistic electrification, including for battery storage, induction stoves, and commercial kitchen electrification. EBCE also launched an induction cooktop lending program, with sites across Alameda County and more being added soon.

TECH Clean California- A statewide initiative to advance efficient electric space and water heating, TECH provides half of the funding for the Switch Is On campaign, as well as direct incentives for heat pumps, policy and program data, workforce training supports, and more.

Switch is On- A statewide outreach and education campaign, Switch Is On has an extensive website to help homeowners understand electrification and connect to contractors and rebates.

CA Energy Smart Homes- Administered by PG&E, this program covers both new construction and alterations, and provides rebates to electrify clothes drying, space heating, and water heating for single-family homes, duplexes, and low-rise multifamily buildings

PG&E Energy Savings Assistance Program- Free energy efficiency upgrades for income-qualified households, including renters.

Low Income Weatherization Program (LIWP)- Operated by the CA Department of Community Services and Development, this program provides no-cost energy efficiency and solar to low-income households.

Property-Assessed Clean Energy- PACE financing leverages a property’s equity to secure loans for property upgrades, then repaid through property taxes. Qualifying upgrades include solar, windows and doors, heating and air conditioning, and roofing.

On-Bill Financing- Available from PG&E for qualifying businesses, OBF provides 0% loans between $5,000 and $4,000,000 for replacement of older equipment with energy-efficient or all electric alternatives. Loans are repaid on the customer’s energy bill within 10 years.

GoGreen Financing- Part of the California Hub for Energy Efficiency Financing, GoGreen leverages ratepayer funds to negotiate lower rates, longer payback periods, and larger borrowed amounts for energy efficiency projects. Available to homeowners (single and multifamily), renters, and businesses.
