Speeding Ticket
The City of Oakland started giving speeding tickets in March 2026. These speeding tickets come from street cameras, which detect if vehicles are going to fast. If a vehicle is traveling 11 MPH or more over the speed limit, then the camera takes a photo of the rear license plate. A speeding ticket is then sent in the mail automatically. A speeding ticket is a civil penalty. For a more detailed legal explanation, please visit this webpage.
