What if I was not the one driving?

How long do I have to pay the speeding ticket?

You have 30 days from the "Issued Date" found on your speeding ticket.

Will this speeding ticket affect my driving record or add points to my license or driving record?

This is a civil penalty. It will not add points to your license or driving record.

What if my car was stolen?

What if my car was sold?

I wasn’t driving the vehicle. Why am I responsible? What can I do to transfer liability?

Under Assembly Bill 645, the authorizing legislation for speed cameras in California, the registered owner is responsible for the warning or citation. There is no process to transfer liability, unless the vehicle was sold, rented, or stolen. Supporting documentation is required to protest a citation for any of those three cases.
