Sugar-Sweetened Commission

The Sugar Sweetened Beverage (SSB) Community Advisory Board advises the City Council and makes recommendations on how and to what extent the Council should establish and/or fund programs to prevent or reduce the health consequences of the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages in Oakland communities.

The Oakland Sugar Sweetened Beverage (SSB) Community Advisory Board is looking for passionate and dedicated new members! If you are an Oakland resident, consider applying if you meet any of the following criteria:
Parent of an OUSD Student: If you have a child enrolled in the Oakland Unified School District, your perspective and insights are invaluable to us.
Medical or Dental Professional: Use your expertise to help shape health initiatives and make a significant impact on our community's well-being.
Nutrition Expert: Whether you are a dietitian, nutritionist, or work in the field of nutrition, your knowledge can guide effective programs to reduce SSB consumption.
Resident of Historically Impacted Areas: If you live in a part of Oakland that has been historically affected by the effects of consumption of sugary beverages, your voice is crucial in our efforts to create positive change.
