Overview

A major focus of the General Plan Update is inclusive community engagement.

The success of the Oakland General Plan relies on involving residents, community members, local businesses and institutions, and agency partners in its development.

We have a well-rounded community engagement strategy that provides meaningful opportunities for residents and stakeholders to engage in the General Plan Update process.

In our engagement, we are paying particular attention to engaging communities that are often not represented in these kind of planning processes, such as youth, low-income communities of color, seniors, and people with disabilities to name a few.
