Update: OPD Shooting Investigation
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) arrested three individuals in connection with a shooting at Skyline High School on September 5, 2023. The incident occurred on the school campus. Initially, OPD officers took two individuals into custody and recovered a firearm on the day of the shooting.
On September 6, 2023, OPD officers arrested a third individual and recovered a second firearm. In total, three individuals were taken into custody, all of whom are juveniles, and two firearms were recovered.
The Alameda County District Attorney's Office has charged the three with their involvement in the crime.
OPD would like to express its gratitude to our law enforcement partners, including the California Highway Patrol and Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, for their response on the day of the shooting.
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is currently investigating a report of shots fired near Skyline High School. Today, just before 11:30 a.m., OPD's Communications Division received a call reporting possible shots fired in the area. Officers immediately responded to the scene and found no victims of gunfire.
As a precautionary measure, the school was placed on lockdown.
During the preliminary investigation, additional officers in the area located and detained individuals believed to be connected to the shooting. They also recovered a firearm.
