OPD News

This past weekend, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) saw a spike in armed robberies. On Friday, there were seven robberies and two carjackings citywide in Oakland. The next day the city experienced nine additional robberies, one attempted robbery, and a carjacking. On Sunday, there were four robberies, one carjacking, and one attempted carjacking. In most of the crimes, individuals were armed with either a knife or a firearm.

Thanks to leads provided by community members, OPD patrol officers were able to quickly locate the vehicle linked to several of the robberies. Officers took three individuals into custody in connection to at least seven of the robberies.

The Department is closely tracking this current trend, including descriptions of those responsible and their vehicles. If you are a victim or have information regarding these violent crimes, please call OPD’s Robbery Unit at 510-238-3326.

The Department remains vigilant of the numerous incidents occurring in Oakland and urges you to be aware of your surroundings at all times:
