OPD News: Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating an officer-involved shooting (OIS) that occurred just before 9:30 a.m., May 25, 2022, in the 800 block of 35th Street. Oakland Communications Division received a call from an off-duty OPD officer who stated they were involved in a shooting with an individual who was believed to be armed.

Upon arrival, officers contacted the off-duty officer. After a search of the area, patrol officers located a loaded firearm.

During the preliminary investigation, an individual arrived at an area hospital with gunshot wounds. That person is in stable condition and is believed to be the person involved in the OIS. The off-duty officer was not physically injured.

At this time, we do not believe there are any additional individuals involved in the shooting.
