Join Us: Community Forum on Kaiser Convention Center Redevelopment

March 2: Councilmember Bas will host this forum so community members can share feedback and questions and hear from Orton Development on their plans to rehabilitate and adaptively reuse the Convention Center as a performing arts venue and office space for arts and non-profit organizations.

Did you know? The historic Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center is where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. addressed 7,000 East Bay residents in 1962 on the anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. Now, Orton Development proposes to rehabilitate and adaptively reuse the center as a performing arts venue and office space for arts and non-profit organizations.

Councilmember Bas and Laney College Facilities Planning Committee will host a community forum so community members can hear plans from Orton and share feedback and questions:

Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. - 12 noon
The Forum at Laney College
900 Fallon Street, Oakland CA 94607

We look forward to working with you to ensure that this project incorporates the needs of neighbors, arts and culture organizations, community advocates, labor unions, and other groups who will be impacted and who could benefit.
