Two General Design Options for Foothill (Fall 2026)

OakDOT has prepared two general designs for the Foothill Boulevard Traffic Safety Project from 23rd Avenue to Fruitvale Avenue. Both options include pedestrian safety improvements, accessibility improvements, and traffic calming elements, like pedestrian safety islands, speed cushions, flashing lights at crossings, high-visibility crosswalks, and new/upgraded curb ramps. Oakland's 2019 Bike Plan recommends buffered bike lanes on this section of Foothill, so one of the design options contains bike lanes, while the other does not.

View the two options below and explore the trade-offs that come with each.
