14th Avenue is a major east-west corridor that connects International Boulevard to Highland Hospital, MacArthur Boulevard, and I-580. 14th Ave is part of Oakland’s High Injury Network, meaning that it is one of the 8% of streets responsible for 60% of severe and fatal collisions in the city. On and off ramps to I-580 contribute to the risk of crashes on this street. Street safety improvements on another section of 14th Ave (from E 19th St to E 27th St) are nearing completion, expected in Spring 2026, and improvements on 14th Ave from International to E 19th St have been completed.
