About
"The environment is where we all meet, where we all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share." ― Lady Bird Johnson
The Environmental Stewardship Unit is a division of Environmental Services within Oakland Public Works. We support civic engagement through programs, events, and collaboration, bringing individuals together and providing resources for a clean, green, and beautiful Oakland.
On the third Saturday of April every year, the City of Oakland's Environmental Services Stewardship Team celebrates Oakland Earth Day with environmental volunteer events, such as tree plantings, weeding and pruning, and habitat restoration across the city. Volunteers pick up litter, remove graffiti, and participate in other service events!
