Neighborhood Councils (NC’s) are made up of Oakland residents working in partnership with the City of Oakland to address ongoing problems in their neighborhoods.
Every block is organized, and every neighbor is skilled, networked, and empowered to work together and in partnership with the City and outside agencies to solve problems and build a healthy, resilient community.
We help residents work together in partnership with the police department and other city departments to address ongoing problems in their neighborhoods.
The North Oakland Senior Center (NOSC) is located in the beautifully restored former University High School.
The public is invited to review and comment on reports and publications.

Oakland's first Environmental Justice (EJ) Element was adopted in September 2023.

These planning code amendments are intended to implement actions in the 2023-2031 Housing Element's Housing Action Plan, further fair housing, advance environmental justice, remove constraints to staff ability to process entitlements for housing development, and streamline the approval process.
The Safety Element is a required chapter of the General Plan and is a policy framework to guide the public decision-making process on addressing natural and human-caused hazards.
