Step 1.Find out if you qualify

You qualify if you (or someone in your household) participate in at least one of these programs:

• Medi-Cal, CalFresh / SNAP, WIC,
• SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance / Section 8
• National School Lunch Program
• and other qualifying programs

or

You can also qualify based on household income (for example, $50,800/year for a family of four or $24,600/year for an individual).

Step 2.Find a participating internet company

The California LifeLine discount is available through multiple participating internet companies, including Verizon, Xfinity, Charter Communications (Spectrum), and others. Availability varies by location.

What will I need to apply?

Proof of Eligibility: Program identification card, eligibility notice, participation letter, or recent income documents.

Step 3.Contact the provider and pick an internet plan

Call a participating internet company in your area and tell them you would like to apply for the California LifeLine Home Broadband Pilot. The provider will help start your enrollment.

Tips to pick the right internet plan.

• Ask how much the plan will cost each month after the California LifeLine discount is applied.
• Ask about other costs, including installation, equipment, or fees that may not be covered by the monthly discount.
