OPD Recovers Nearly 30 firearms in One Week

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) continues to work hard every day to make our community safer by holding those who commit violent crimes accountable. Since August 8, OPD has recovered 27 firearms. Last week, Officers made multiple arrests in connection with various weapons violations.
On August 11, OPD's Special Resource Section (SRS) East performed a vehicle stop on a Suisun resident, the suspect was arrested, and a firearm was recovered. This case has been charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
On August 13, OPD patrol officers served a search warrant at an Oakland residence for firearm offenses. Officers arrested an individual and recovered numerous firearms, parts to create firearms, and high-capacity magazines. This case will be presented to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
On August 14, OPD patrol officers arrested an Oakland resident for their involvement with a strongarm robbery that occurred on August 11, 2025. This case has been presented to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
On August 14, OPD's Special Resource Section (SRS) West located and arrested an Oakland resident who was in possession of an illegal firearm. This case has been presented to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
