OPD Recovers Dozens of Firearms in Five Days

In under a week, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) has recovered 27 firearms and made several arrests for serious crimes throughout the city as part of our Summer Safety Plan.

Sunday: Two Oakland men were arrested for unrelated crimes. One in connection with a 2024 armed carjacking. The other was for a robbery and assault that occurred in May 2025. Both cases were charged by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.

Monday: Two Oakland men were arrested for unrelated crimes. One was taken into custody for a robbery at a business in the 4100 block of Redwood Road. The other man was arrested by Special Resource Section (SRS) East Officers after they located an assault rifle during a vehicle stop. A follow-up search warrant at the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of two more firearms. A person inside the residence was also arrested for multiple shooting warrants. The District Attorney charged all three individuals.

Tuesday: Two additional men were arrested for separate crimes. One was charged in connection with a July 2024 robbery, and the other was arrested for an armed robbery of a business in the 4100 block of Redwood Road. The District Attorney charged both cases.

Wednesday: OPD Vice Unit Officers and SRS West Officers arrested a man wanted for a shooting that occurred on May 2025 in the 900 block of 39th Avenue. During the arrest, a firearm was recovered. The case will be presented to the District Attorney. 

Thursday: OPD Ceasefire Officers arrested two men for their involvement in a shooting that occurred on July 30, 2025, in the 500 block of 25th Street. Two firearms were recovered. The case will be presented to the District Attorney.

Also on Thursday, Patrol Officers responded to a report of a robbery in the 1500 block of 92nd Avenue. Officers arrested three suspects, two adults and a juvenile, for the robbery. A firearm was recovered along with the stolen items. This case will be presented to the District Attorney. 

These results reflect the tireless efforts of the women and men of the Oakland Police Department, who continue working around the clock to keep our neighborhoods safe. OPD continues to work closely with the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office to ensure individuals involved in crime are held accountable.
