OPD News:

In recent days, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) has been actively involved in recovering dangerous firearms from the streets.

On September 30, 2025, officers from Ceasefire conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of 105th Avenue. During this stop, they arrested an individual for possessing an illegal firearm. Officers recovered a semi-automatic weapon (pictured above left) in the process.

On September 29, 2025, officers from the Special Resource Section (SRS) East were patrolling the 1400 block of 80th Avenue when they observed a firearm in plain view inside a vehicle. Officers were able to locate and arrest an individual connected to that firearm.

Nearly a month-long investigation by OPD's Criminal Investigation Division (CID) ended with the arrest of a shooting suspect. On September 25, 2025, SRS East officers executed a search warrant at the suspect's residence. The shooting occurred just after 11:00 p.m. on August 30, 2025, in the area of High Street and International Boulevard. Officers arrested the suspect and recovered multiple firearms (pictured above right) and evidence linking the suspect to the shooting.

OPD remains committed to reducing gun violence and keeping our neighborhoods safe. These recent arrests and firearm recoveries highlight the dedication of our officers and the importance of collaboration with our community. Working together, we can make Oakland safer.
