OPD NEWS:

As part of our Summer Safety Plan, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) deployed additional officers to enforce illegal sideshow activity throughout our city. On July 19, 2025, approximately 100 people participated in illegal sideshows. The first occurred around 4:00 p.m. and another around 1:15 a.m. on July 20, both in East Oakland. During the sideshow enforcement, officers made 60 enforcement stops, issued 57 citations, and towed eight vehicles.

On Sunday night, the sideshow enforcement teams conducted 24 enforcement stops, issued 23 citations, towed eight vehicles, and recovered a firearm.

OPD will continue to have additional officers committed to addressing illegal Sideshow activity that threatens public safety, disrupts our neighborhoods, harms businesses, and affects our community’s overall quality of life.

Our investigators are actively working to identify those responsible for criminal activity and participating in illegal Sideshows. We will continue collaborating with our law enforcement partners to reduce these dangerous events.

Reminder: If you participate in illegal sideshows in Oakland, your vehicle could be towed and held with a 30-day hold.
