OPD Ceasefire Members Recover Guns, Drugs, and Make Arrests
In ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and combat violent crime, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) Ceasefire Section conducted proactive stops this past weekend, which led to the recovery of 6 firearms, drugs, and three individuals being arrested.
On September 20, 2025, in the 7800 block of Garfield Avenue, officers assigned to Ceasefire observed an individual possessing a firearm. Officers searched two vehicles connected with the individual, and an additional firearm was recovered, as well as suspected MDMA and marijuana.
On the same evening, a traffic stop was initiated in the 9500 block of Birch Street, where the driver exited the vehicle during the stop. The individual was detained, and a loaded firearm was recovered from his person.
A short time later, in the area of East 20th Street and 23rd Avenue, OPD members arrested an individual in possession of a firearm. Officers searched a vehicle connected to the individual, and two additional firearms were located.
All three individuals were taken into custody.
These results reflect the tireless efforts of the women and men of the Oakland Police Department, who continue working around the clock to keep our neighborhoods safe and prevent violence.
