Mayor Barbara Lee’s Appointments to the Oakland Board of Port Commissioners Unanimously Approved by City Council
The Oakland City Council voted today to approve Mayor Barbara Lee’s three appointments to the Board of Port Commissioners, reinforcing the city’s commitment to equity, job creation, and sustainable economic growth.
“These appointments reflect the kind of leadership Oakland needs, and that is people with the diverse experiences and perspectives to help the Port grow in a way that benefits the entire city,” said Mayor Lee. “I’m grateful to the Council for their support.”
As one of the city’s largest economic engines, the Port of Oakland plays a critical role in job creation, international trade, and regional development. The newly appointed and reappointed commissioners bring deep expertise in business, labor, and environmental justice:
“These commissioners bring a wide range of knowledge and a shared commitment to public service,” said Mayor Lee. “They will help move Oakland forward with a clear focus on jobs, equity, and long-term resilience.”
