2026 Important Tax Notice
On September 11, 2026, The Revenue Management Bureau mailed Important Tax Notices to property owners of properties identified as potential landlords. Under Oakland Municipal Code 5.04.020 and 5.04.120 (G) and (Q), it is unlawful to rent or lease property in the City of Oakland without first obtaining a Business Tax Certificate. Residential rental properties may also be subject to the Rent Adjustment Program (RAP) fee.
