Major Crossings

Enhance pedestrian and bicycle safety by installing Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), refuge islands, and bulb-outs, and install/upgrade crosswalks and curb ramps at non-signalized locations that cross major arterial and collector streets.

Park Blvd & E19th Street

Design highlights:

• Construction of pedestrian curb ramp, median Island, pedestrian refuge island, corner bulbs out

• Painting new high visibility crosswalk

Enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility by adding leading pedestrian intervals, pedestrian countdown heads, protected left turns, and other safety upgrades at Bancroft Ave/90th Ave, which is a major corridor intersections.

Leading Pedestrian Interval

Enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility by adding leading pedestrian intervals, longer pedestrian clearance times and pedestrian countdown signal heads at 51 signalized intersections within Oakland’s priority equity neighborhoods
