Oakland offers all residents the opportunity to drop off oversize, household junk for FREE!

Drop-off Instructions

• Proof of Oakland residency (e.g Drivers License, household bill)
• ~4 cubic yards (3 ft x 3 ft x 12 ft, approx.) of bulky items
• No businesses please. 

Acceptable Items

• Furniture
• Carpets (roll and tape all carpets)
• Mattresses and box springs
• Appliances
• Electronics
• Non-hazardous household items (box or bag loose items)

Unacceptable Items

• ☣️Hazardous or Medical Waste: For disposal options, please visit the Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste Program website (1-800-606-6606)
• Rock, Dirt, Concrete, or Fiberglass. See the list of Oakland-approved Construction and Demolition Haulers for disposal options.
