SPARE Workshops

The City of Oakland Senior Center presents SPARE - Special Assessment Refunds and Exemptions, a City of Oakland Program workshop. Join us to hear from the City of Oakland's SPARE team about potential senior discounts on Oakland property taxes.

There are three opportunities to catch this presentation. Each presentation will be followed by paperwork support.

• Monday, April 20, 2026 | 10:00am – 1:00pm- Downtown Oakland Senior Center 
  
  
• Tuesday, April 21, 2026 | 10:00am – 1:00pm - East Oakland Senior Center
  
  
• Wednesday, April 22, 2026 | 9:30am – 1:00pm - North Oakland Senior Center

This event is open to the public.

Requirements to Qualify

1. Must Own and Live in your own home
2. Annual income of $84,600 or less (65 and over)
3. Annual income of $65,400 or less (under 65)
4. Proof of Income for all Household residents
5. Proof of Age for Property Owner

Documents to Bring

1. Proof of 2025 tax income for all household members:
   1. IRS Tax documents (1040 plus all schedules) OR
   2. Other Income documents such as:
      • Social Security Letters
      • W2s or 1099s
      • Bank Statements with Monthly Deposits
2. Proof of Age for Property Owner
3. 2024 income may also be brought in addition to the 2025 tax documents
