Rainbow Recreation Center

The newly renovated Rainbow Recreation Center serves the East Oakland Community with recreational activities for all ages. The center features the Jason Richardson Gymnasium, lighted outdoor basketball courts, soccer/flag football field, playground, toddler play area, commercial kitchen, patio area, computer lab, and community room.

Our Activities and Services

Zumba - Weekdays: Mornings (9:00am to 10:30am) come join instructor, Cynthia for dancing that helps with weight loss, coordination, and balance. It's lots of fun.
Play Group - Wednesday and Friday mornings (9:30am - 12:30pm) Free for kids (up to 5 years old) learn games, play with toys, and learn basic math skills in a fun environment. Moms stay with the kids and help out with all activities.
Town Camp + Swim - Weekdays (8:30am to 5:30pm) Kids will have the opportunity to participate in the OPRYD Learn to Swim Program to feel more confident in the water. Register online or drop by today.
After School Program - Weekdays (3:00pm to 6:00pm) Kids get help with homework. We provided nutritional snacks. There are organized physical play activities, arts and crafts, and much more. Register online or drop by today.
Food Giveaway - Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays (11:00am - 1:30pm) is our food giveaway, run by Sister Alice Muhammad and her amazing crew. They give out fruits, vegetables, canned goods, and all sorts if other great food items.
Charter School Rentals - We have incredible rates for schools looking for a gym or play area to use. If interested please call us at (510) 615-5751.
Facility Rentals - We are always available for special events like: birthday parties, baby showers, business meetings, etc.
- Reservations must be made 30 days in advance of the event.
Open Gyms - Please call our recreation center for hours, times may change per season.
- Fall and Spring availability: Monday - Friday 11am - 2pm
- No availability during the summer months
