Public Art Prequalified Roster
The City of Oakland’s Public Art Program maintains a prequalified roster of visual and public artists. The roster is used for commissioning new, original, and site-responsive public artwork for the City of Oakland in collaboration with other City departments.
Artists included on the roster are not guaranteed a commission but are pre-approved by the Public Art Advisory Committee for consideration for upcoming City supported public art projects. Artists were selected by a panel of Oakland-based arts professionals who reviewed and evaluated each artist application. The roster includes 260 talented artists, mostly from Oakland and the greater Bay Area, with a broad range of media and public art experience levels.
The artist roster is publicly accessible and includes direct links to each artist’s website and Instagram handle, where available, allowing you to contact them directly. The list is organized alphabetically by last name and includes each artist’s city of residence, website, social media (if provided), and artistic mediums. Mediums have been categorized by staff based on information submitted in the artists’ applications.
If you have any questions about the roster, please contact Public Art Program staff: Kristen Zaremba at kzaremba@oaklandca.gov and/or Josie de Mira at jdemira@oaklandca.gov.
You can use the search window below to find an artist by name, city, or search by mediums such as murals, paintings, mosaic, sculpture, glass, etc. Use commas to separate multiple search keywords.
Please note: The online version of the prequalified roster is still in development and does not yet reflect the full list of participating artists. If you would like access to the complete roster, please contact staff directly.
