The East Oakland Neighborhoods Initiative is a partnership between the City of Oakland Planning Bureau and twelve community-based organizations focused on equity-based planning for Deep East Oakland. Together, we have conducted a year of community outreach to identify the primary concerns, goals, and priorities for East Oakland residents and stakeholders. East Oakland Planning for Paving is an effort to incorporate more transportation safety strategies and community input in the process of repaving Oakland’s street.
Located at the Ira Jinkins Park in Oakland's Brookfield neighborhood, this Center's programs emphasize exercise, nutrition, crafts and computer instruction. At the on-site Clinic, seniors can access community health care services each morning. Special events, celebrate holidays such as Juneteenth and Earth Day. Line dancing is a popular class, and the Center's choral group performs at venues throughout the area. The facility is available for public and private events.
The 25,000 square foot East Oakland Sports Center offers a wide variety of year-round recreation programs emphasizing health, wellness and fitness that are available to all ages.

This project was formerly known as 222 19th Street Development Project. The project proposed the demolition of the existing garden associated with the historic August Schilling estate and construction of a 42-story residential high-rise (457’-9” to the top of the pyramidal roof form) containing 370 for-sale units, a 933 sq. ft. of ground floor café, and 357 parking spaces in five levels of underground parking.
The Emergency Home Repair Program provides loans for home repairs that require immediate attention such as a citation issued by a Fire Marshall, Health Officer or Code Enforcement Officer, leaking roof sewer break.
The City of Oakland updated its Planning Code on July 15, 2014 to comply with California State Law Senate Bill 2, 2007, (SB 2). SB 2 requires cities to permit emergency shelters in at least one zoning district without a conditional use permit or other discretionary action. City staff worked with stakeholders and the public to develop policy options related to appropriate locations in Oakland for emergency shelters. Emergency shelter performance and development standards were also collaboratively developed.

The Equipment Services Division manages the City's vehicle acquisitions and provides maintenance & fueling for all City vehicles & equipment.
In the Spring of 2017, the City Council enacted an Equity Permit Program that addresses disparities in the cannabis industry by prioritizing the victims of the war on drugs, and minimizing barriers of entry into the industry.
Qualified Equity applicants can receive free assistance with navigating the cannabis permit process.
