Oakland for All: Options for How We Stabilize and Grow - Read the Report and Take the Survey!

As part of Phase 2 of the General Plan Update, we've released Oakland for All: Options for How We Stabilize and Grow. This new report explores big-picture ideas for how Oakland could stabilize and grow over the next 20 years – such as choosing where new homes, jobs, parks, and transportation might go.

Overview

Phase 2 will work with the Oakland community to advance the following goals:

  • Build a transportation system with safe and reliable options for everyone
  • Create more livable and walkable neighborhoods with access to grocery stores, entertainment, stores, libraries, and parks
  • Develop parks and recreational spaces, especially in underserved neighborhoods, so everyone can enjoy natural spaces
  • Protect neighborhoods from excessive noise near freeways, airports, and industrial areas
  • Improve city infrastructure, including roads, bridges, sidewalks, public restrooms, and fire stations
  • Identify and meet the needs of Oakland's diverse communities

  • September - October 2024 - Phase 2 Kickoff
  • July 2025 - Release of Draft Land Use Options
    • Public Review and Survey Open from July 30 - September 24
  • September 2025 - Release of Preferred Option
  • Summer 2026 - Release of Draft Elements 
  • Winter 2026 - Anticipated Adoption of Phase 2 Elements
