CalHome Program

The CalHome Program partners with lenders to assist low-income, first-time homebuyers with buying a home in the City of Oakland. This program is currently suspended for lack of funds. This page will be updated when we have funding replenished and are taking reservations.

Campaign Finance Rules and Disclosure

Candidates for City elected offices, including OUSD Board members, campaign committees and local ballot measure committees, as well as other persons and entities making independent expenditures on candidates or ballot measures in Oakland are subject to campaign rules under the California Political Reform Act and Oakland Campaign Reform Act. The Public Ethics Commission enforces campaign rules, serves as filing officer for campaign finance reporting and provides education and advice.

Camps

Our camps teach youth the wonders of the great outdoors and respect for nature. Our activities help youth make new friends, build their problem-solving skills, and develop self confidence and independence. We have programs for kids age 3 years and older.

Car Share

OakDOT's Parking & Mobility Division is implementing two separate car share pilot programs: the Free-Floating Car Share Pilot and the Dedicated Space Car Share Pilot. Electric mopeds are eligible vehicles under this program.

Carmen Flores Recreation Center

The Carmen Flores Recreation Center is located in the heart of Oakland’s Fruitvale district. Diverse recreational programs are offered at low cost for tiny tots, youth, teens, adults and seniors. The center and park feature an industrial sized kitchen, multipurpose room, fully equipped computer lab and an artificial multipurpose field. Current renovations to the park include full basketball court, new entry way, a track, lighting, and landscaping which was completed in Fall 2011. We have a team of bilingual staff and a friendly atmosphere. Our programs are designed to expose our community to new activities that help participants find their passion in life. Situated at the geographical center of the San Francisco Bay Area, Oakland is the largest and most established of the East Bay cities. The city benefits from immediate access to rail, air, sea, freeway and transit services. Oakland is also an international gateway and an ideal place for business!

Central East Oakland Discovery Center

The Central East Oakland Discovery Center is a community-based program that offers neighborhood youth a fun way to explore their world through science.It provides youth with the materials, resources, and coaching that allows them the creative space to discover their own skills and enables them to pursue their own interests. It encourages youth to see learning as something they pursue for their own benefit.The program is located at Brookdale Recreation Center.

Central Estuary Area Plan

The City of Oakland adopted the Central Estuary Area Plan (CEAP) and related environmental document, to guide future development in the Central Estuary Area which encompasses 19th Ave. to 54th Ave and I-880 to the Estuary.

Charles Porter Golden Gate Recreation Center

Located in North Oakland, Golden Gate Recreation Center is close to Pixar Studios, Powell Street shopping center, Bay Street shopping center, and adjacent to the Golden Gate Community Garden. The center is fully equipped with a basketball court, baseball field, picnic sites, and patio area.

Child and Youth Services

Our programs support success in school, healthy transitions to adulthood, child health and wellness, and youth empowerment. Our work supports the health, safety, and well-being of children and their families.

City of Oakland Community Toy Drive

During the holidays, the City of Oakland collects and distributes toys for Oakland children. Last year, we were able to provide toys to over 8,000 children from low-income families. This includes over 16,000 dolls, trucks, books, board games, sports equipment, and gift certificates. NOTE: TOY DRIVE WILL BE HELD EARLIER THIS YEAR ON DECEMBER 14, 2019.
