Titled “Belonging in Oakland: A Cultural Development Plan,” the document provides a roadmap to support and lift up the role of culture in building a just and equitable city – so that every Oaklander in every neighborhood has access to cultural amenities.
The CSIG program embedded cultural strategists— people who work through culture — in government departments, to shift the cultural conditions and practices of government.
Between September 2016 and February 2018, the City of Oakland worked with Bloomberg Associates Sustainability Practice to identify opportunities and measure the impact of deep GHG reductions, utilizing a new climate planning tool called CURB. Oakland is the first city in North America to use the tool in depth as a key input to its climate planning. Both the Executive Summary and the full CURB Report are available for download and review.
