Amidst a record-breaking survey of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, today Alameda County joined other Bay Area health departments and the City of Berkeley in implementing the State's New Regional Stay Home Order to prevent our health care systems from being overburdened and save lives. In Alameda County, the new order takes effect on Monday, December 7 at 12:01 a.m. through Monday, January 4, 2021.
As part of the new health order's sector closures and activity restrictions, no outdoor dining may take place; restaurants will be allowed to operate for take-out and delivery only during this time. Retail will be permitted indoors at 20% capacity, with special hours for seniors and others at high risk. Other activities and facilities that had previously been allowed to operate outdoors are now required to close, including:
- Hair salons/Barbershops
- Personal care services
- Museums, zoos, and aquariums
- Wineries, bars, breweries, distilleries
- Indoor and outdoor playgrounds
- Indoor recreational facilities
- Family entertainment centers
