Eric Adams

Policy Analyst + Community Partnerships Manager

Eric Adams is first generation Oakland Native, and 4th generation Bay Area Native. Eric is one of 4 siblings that grew up in Oakland, attended Oakland schools, and has been involved with community work since the age of 15. After becoming a Student Board Director of OUSD in his senior year, Eric graduated and went onto UCLA, where he was heavily involved in addressing inequity, which helped birth Bruin Day for LGBTQ students, and the creation of an LGBTQ themed housing community -- the first of its kind on campus.

After graduating from UCLA with a BA in African American Studies, Eric returned to Oakland to organize and advocate, and worked with many community organizations. Before joining our D2 team, Eric was the Advocacy and Policy Manager for the Genders & Sexualities Alliance Network, where he built out their Inclusive Sex Education Campaign to include data collection and visualization, regular engagement with political decision-making bodies, the creation of a statewide toolkit, and the creation of a Youth Advocacy Corps within the organization to begin lobbying on behalf of Trans & Queer students across the state.
