  • Led record investment in affordable housing with $224M, $8.8M for the Rapid Response Homeless Housing Acquisition Fund, and $1M for tenant legal services due to the sunset of the eviction moratorium through the FY ‘23-25 Biennial Budget 
  • Celebrated the ground-breaking of 20 additional beds for youth at risk of homeless and trafficking through the Rapid Response Homeless Housing Acquisition Fund allocation of $1.2M to the Covenant House
  • Fought for, advocated, supported city funding, and broke ground on the first of two 100% affordable housing projects at East 12th Street, with 91 units of permanently affordable housing
  • Launched Oakland’s first upgraded tiny homes community with single-occupancy shelters providing heat, lockable doors, storage, and space for pets to more than 65 unhoused residents, using public land for public good
  • Created and won $14 million in starter funding to help low-income tenants purchase their homes with community land trusts to prevent displacement and create permanently affordable community-owned housing
  • Generated 1,200 affordable housing units in our District 2 pipeline. Co-authored an affordable housing and infrastructure bond measure to raise $350 million for more affordable housing. Measure U was passed by voters in November 2022.
  • Passed legislation to help formerly incarcerated residents access rental housing
  • Co-authored legislation to strengthen tenants’ rights and enforcement, including measures to limit maximum rent increases and improve eviction protections 
  • Called for Oakland’s first audit of homeless response and services, which is resulting in concrete recommendations and improvement plans
