Distribution, Warehousing and Logistics Facilities

The Gateway Industrial District includes industrial spaces for warehouses, distribution facilities and fulfillment centers. These activities constitute the circulatory system of trade and commerce, which involves, among other things, trucking fleets, shipping containers and rail cars. The nature of these activities at the Gateway Industrial District will be derived from overall demand and market needs. Operations of these facilities is governed by Air Quality Plans that are linked below.

PODS Buildings

The City leases the approximately 16-acre site located at 55-75 Admiral Robert Toney Way to Prologis under a 66-year ground lease. Prologis now leases a newly constructed 256,136 square foot warehouse building on the site to PODS, a nation-wide company that moves goods in portable storage units. Storage units are delivered to homes and businesses where they are filled with personal or business belongings, transported for storage in the PODS warehouse then ultimately delivered to the location requested by the client.

ConGlobal

The City leases the approximately 17-acre site located at 11 Burma Rd. to Prologis under a 66-year ground lease. ConGlobal leases the site from Prologis for use as a container storage depot where empty containers are stacked and stored on a short term basis. ConGlobal also operates a repair facility which consists of an 8,650-square foot open maintenance building for paint touch up and minor repairs to the containers and an outdoor container wash area adjacent to the maintenance building. Outdoors and adjacent to the maintenance building the area is used for repair, maintenance and temperature setting of empty refrigerated containers. Empty chassis, which are the trailers upon which containers are placed, are also be stacked and stored on-site.

Good Eggs

Good Eggs

The City leases the approximately 14-acre site located at 2000 Maritime Street to Prologis under a 66-year ground lease. Prologis now leases a 116,246 square foot portion of a newly constructed warehouse building to Good Eggs, an online grocery and meal kit delivery service that provides fresh local produce, meal kits, grocery staples and beer, wine and spirits. Groceries and meal kits are provided as a same day delivery service. Produce and packaging material are delivered to the Good Eggs facility by local and regional companies using gasoline powered box trucks, vans, cars and some diesel semi-trucks. Electrical outlets at the refrigerated portion of the warehouse provide power to run refrigerated trucks while unloading (rather than running their engines).

Custom Goods

The City leases the approximately 16-acre site located at 2001 Maritime Street to Prologis under a 66-year ground lease. Prologis now leases a 189,083 square foot portion of a newly constructed warehouse building to Custom Goods, a full-service logistics company with warehousing, transportation, specialty freight forwarding services and a bonded customs examination site at the building.

Shift.com

The City leases the approximately 14-acre site located at 2000 Maritime Street to Prologis under a 66-year ground lease. Prologis leases a 116,246 square foot portion of the warehouse to Good Eggs and leases the other 116,539 square foot portion of the warehouse to Shift.com, a regional distribution center for online car sales. Shift.com is currently developing an Air Quality Plan for its operation.
