3rd Street Improvements

About

The 3rd Street corridor connects West Oakland BART station through Jack London District to Oak Street and serves industrial and urban uses, including trucks, vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians. The corridor accommodates overweight commercial trucks serving the Port and trucks serving the Produce Market. There are existing gaps in the sidewalks, forcing pedestrians to walk in the roadway, which is not safe or accessible for people with disabilities. The 3rd Street Improvements will construct sidewalks and ADA compliant curb ramps on 3rd Street between Broadway and Market Street. The project may also include repaving the road, adding stop signs, and high visibility crosswalks to improve the safety of all road users.
