Officers Recover Four Firearms After a Disturbance at An Encampment

Two people are in custody, and multiple firearms were recovered, as Oakland Police officers respond, to a report of individuals attempting to force a person out of an unsheltered encampment.

The incident occurred this morning just before 12:30 AM, near the intersection of East 8th Street and Alameda Avenue. A person called the Oakland Police Department (OPD) Communications Division to report one of the individuals pointed a gun at them and was sitting in a parked vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle matching the suspect’s vehicle. Officers detained the two individuals inside the vehicle and recovered four loaded firearms and an extended magazine. The weapons were in clear view of the passenger-side floorboard.

The two occupants of the vehicle were positively identified and arrested on multiple firearm charges.
