Oakland Creek to Bay Day Returns Saturday September 23 as Volunteers Clean and Green Oakland’s Waterways

City staff and community volunteer leaders will host watershed clean ups at 20 sites across the city

Oakland, CA – On Saturday, September 23, Oakland Public Works (OPW) and community volunteer leaders will be outside hosting neighborhood clean-ups along creeks and other waterways to celebrate Oakland Creek to Bay Day 2023.

This year marks the 28th anniversary of Oakland Creek to Bay Day, which is held in conjunction with California and International Coastal Cleanup Day: one of the largest organized volunteer days in California, the nation, and 100 other participating countries. Volunteers in Oakland will pick up litter, remove graffiti, weed, plant, and restore native habitats. As in years past, the collective effort is expected to remove thousands of gallons of trash from Oakland shorelines and waterways.

Information about where you can volunteer is available online at http://www.oaklandcreektobay.org.

This year OPW is sponsoring events at seven sites across Oakland, one in each City Council district. One of these events was held last weekend at Mills College. This weekend, volunteers are encouraged to join us at one of the following locations:
