Homicide Investigation in the area of East 19th Street and 23rd Avenue

On November 9, 2020, at approximately 5:12 PM the Communications Division received reports of a possible shooting in the area of East 19th Street and 23rd Avenue.

On November 9, 2020, at approximately 5:12 PM the Communications Division received reports of a possible shooting in the area of East 19th Street and 23rd Avenue. Officers responded to the scene and located a male adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Oakland Fire Department personnel and Falck ambulance crew responded to the scene and provided medical treatment. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Oakland Police Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and began the follow-up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the apparent shooting. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
