The Oakland Police Department (OPD) arrested Victor Sledge for the homicide of Nicole Marcy, which occurred on July 19, 2023, in the 1200 block of 18th Avenue.

OPD Makes Arrest in Homicide Case

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) arrested Victor Sledge for the homicide of Nicole Marcy, which occurred on July 19, 2023, in the 1200 block of 18th Avenue.

Due to the steadfast and combined efforts of OPD Homicide Investigators, Violent Crimes Operation Center, and the US Marshals, Victor Sledge was safely taken into custody.

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office charged Sledge with multiple crimes, including murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and violating terms of probation.

Background:

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a homicide that occurred on July 19, 2023, just before 5:00 AM, in the 1200 block of 18th Avenue.

Officers arrived on scene and located an individual with an apparent gunshot wound(s). Medical attention was provided, but unfortunately, the victims succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

A short time later, another victim arrived at a local hospital with apparent gunshot wound(s).

This is an active scene; we are unable to provide additional details at this time.

Investigators from the OPD Homicide Section responded to the scene to conduct a follow up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
