If you receive a call from someone demanding money or gift cards and claiming to be a member of the “Bureau of Investigations” or the Oakland Police Department, it is a SCAM!! We’ve learned through our investigations that the callers are threatening to arrest people who do not comply.
The Oakland Police Department does not call community members soliciting funds. If you are a victim or receive a call, please hang up and call the Criminal Investigation Division at (510)238-3728 or our non-emergency number at (510) 777-3333.
