Homicide Investigation in the 2300 block of Martin Luther King Way

On November 8, 2020, at approximately 2:55 AM officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Martin Luther King Way to investigate a report of a shooting.

On November 8, 2020, at approximately 2:55 AM officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Martin Luther King Way to investigate a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers were directed to a male adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Oakland Fire Department personnel and Falck ambulance crew additionally responded to the scene and provided medical treatment. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Oakland Police Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and began the follow-up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the apparent shooting. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
