The 2nd annual Oakland Love Life Day will take place on FRIDAY 10/20 in Frank Ogawa Plaza from 4:30 to 7:00 PM. Free food will be provided for the first 100 attendees! We will uplift the city’s official motto of “Oakland Love Life”, with music, art, culture, honoring community leaders, community resources, food and fun. Hosted by @KevChoice, this year's event will include a special presentation of the “Oakland Love Life Hero Awards” by @mayorshengthao's office, with special live performances from @DigitalUndergroundofficial, @stunnaman02, @jadaimani510, @pher510, @djladyryan, Oakland Poet Laureate @wordslanger, as well as other special guests. Love Life Day is collaboration between Oakland Cultural Strategist Kev Choice and the Citywide Communications and Engagement Team.
About Oakland Love Life
In April 2016, the City of Oakland adopted an official city motto in memory of 16-year old Lo'Eshe Lacy. Lo'Eshe in Nigerian Igbo means "love life," a rallying cry to embody Oakland love.
