The City of Oakland will celebrate the second annual “Oakland Love Life Day,” a free event honoring those uplifting love and helping prevent violence in our communities. A week of events, co-hosted in collaboration with civic and community leaders, will be announced and lead up to the Love Life Day Celebration.
Love Life Day is collaboration between Oakland Cultural Strategist Kev Choice and the Citywide Communications and Engagement Team, it will feature music performances, art, and food for the community celebrated in Frank Ogawa Plaza.
In April 2016, the City of Oakland adopted an official city motto in memory of 16-year old Lo'Eshe Lacy. Lo'Eshe in Nigerian Igbo means "love life," a rallying cry to embody Oakland love.
