Lia is an East Bay native, who currently serves City Councilmember Nikki Fortunato Bas representing Oakland’s District 2, with a focus on public safety, education and transportation policy.

Prior to this, Lia worked as the Campaign Manager for a successful statewide campaign for CA State Board of Equalization candidate and President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Malia Cohen, and in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors at the Akonadi Foundation and Mission Neighborhood Centers.

Outside of her day job, Lia serves as Co-President of the San Francisco Women’s Political Committee. She has experience on local, state and national campaigns and interned in Washington D.C. for Congressman Jared Huffman and for Barbara Ehrenreich’s Economic Hardship Reporting Project at a progressive think tank, the Institute for Policy Studies.

Lia graduated Magna Cum Laude from UC Santa Cruz triple majoring in Philosophy, Sociology and Legal Studies, and studied social entrepreneurship at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain.
