Redistricting Commissioner
Commissioner Achtenberg has lived and worked in Oakland since 2008. He and his family currently reside in District 6. As an educator, he is a firm believer and advocate for educational equity for all Oakland students. Commissioner Achtenberg is serving on the Redistricting Commission because he believes that the redistricting process should be open and accessible to all Oaklanders. By increasing accessibility in the process and redrawing district boundaries more equitably throughout the city, Commissioner Achtenberg hopes all communities of interest will be more respected and honored, and able to elect local representatives who accurately represent the values and interests of each respective district.
